From the Vaults. Horrorfeatures

Back to the blog... but blog often comes last. Its more a note to self but feel free to nose my knows. Horror is important. Fear this, Blood on Satans Claw... Messy maids and hairy hands... this is very much in the vain of The Wicker Man, something pagan about its haunts... and a proper bit of Satan where the supernatural was lacking. And bless my socks, I have a LINK for you to watch it for free

This is the low down for all those that want straight talking...

Set in seventeenth century England, the film opens with ploughman, Ralph Bower, discovering a strange skull in a field. The skull is heavily deformed and has one eyeball attached to it. When the judge looks at it, he dismisses any fears about it as supernatural hogwash.

The judge's predictions prove ill-founded when later people start to sprout hair on their bodies and begin to behave oddly. The judge is called again, and this time he takes it seriously and swears to return when he has researched the subject of Witchcraft.

When he returns, he brings the full weight of his knowledge to bear on the great evil infecting the village.

How Every Weekend Should Be

Just had the pleasure of returning back from LOOP Arts Fair in Leeds... and I have to say, it was a beautiful way to spend some days. Beyond the fact that it would obviously be amazing based on whats written above... the actuality of it was something else. All the artists were super personable, everyone was down to earth... had the chance to draw live in front of some of my favourite illustrators... and it was just a great atmosphere. I would liken it to an illustrators Byker Grove.

Highlights included: Sister Arrows greenhouse stand, Matt the Horse's presentation, Introduction to Risograph machines and seeing the likes of James Jarvis, Lizzy Stewart, Jez Burrows and Nous Vous in action.

Weng Weng, I Love You My Weng Weng

SO. This is pretty much the shape of whats pleasing me this week. Usually, theres a YouTube video left on repeat whilst I work. In the past we've seen the talking dog, monkeys riding dogs, freerunning dogs... but we've dropped the K9 in favour of Weng Weng. In the mould of a world famous average height high charisma special agent, Weng Weng is a 2'9' superspy working for the Philipino interpol. Enjoys fighting crime on the back of a mini moto, rocking a gat and a rocket pack... and loving disco!

I was introduce to Weng Weng by hip hop crew 'The Chuds'. Careful mind... the track and associated video are dangerously addictive. Check it HERE

Jack Teagle. No Messing

Anyone that knows me knows that there is little that I enjoy more than a good dig about in the vaults of wrestling history. I'm also knee deep in my own wrestling homage series!

SO... imagine my excitement to mooch over to illustration legend Jack Teagles BLOG and see that he has his own little celebration of Wrestlemania 1. Wonderful.

Escape For/From You

Wouldn't it be great. Well. Maybe. If I could still get the metty to the cinema, and it had the backbone for a woodburning stove... and enough solar panels to charge my laptop. Those issues being covered... we'd ship up and move out!

SX-70 Love pt 1

All production of new work is on hold... as I just found an SX-70 at a car boot and bought 6 films for it! A design masterpiece aesthetically... as well as a really functional SLR Polaroid. I loves it.

See you on the other side

My Favourite Thing (Vegetable, Animal or Mineral)

Go see 'Coaster Scenery's amazing collection of images of Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach. Having spent 18 years growing up in the shadow of this place, it certainly makes me glow to wander through these images. I could spend all day everyday just looking through them

(The image second from top is the day the roller coaster collapsed. THE ROLLER COASTER COLLAPSED! You heard right!)

We don't want to conform

Bill Owens is the boss man of documenting 1950's/50's suburban America. It speaks for itself. But if you need more, go pick up 'Suburbia' or 'Leisure' as the quotes from the subjects are a priceless insight into the original era of off the shelf optimism

Century of the Self

Twinned With Your Darkest Thoughts

Twin Peaks should only ever been done by David Lynch. The illustrious Diane Keaton proved that much. Today, it all ended for us. We've seen the changes of the seasons together, and I feel like a friend has been taken to live on the farm. Gordon Cole. Audrey Horne. Sheriff Trueman. Garland and Leiland, Albert Rosenfield, Deputy Andy, Even young Annie Blackburn. You will all be missed. Its like the end of 'Neverending Story' this...

Dale Cooper. A special mention. Be good and be kind brother sun, brother moon. We love you. Thanks for the memories x
